Record 2011 Boxing Day for Chadstone: 160,000 shoppers

Daniel Sutton, centre manager, said "160,000 people come through the centre" on Boxing Day. Although it had been a tough year for retail in general, this year's Boxing Day sales at Chadstone Shopping Centre was up by 4% as compared with 2010. He said shoppers were "taking advantage of the great offers some retailers were offering".
Many shops offered large discounts on their end-of-year sales, ranging from 20% up to 60%. Many shops need to move old 2011 stock out to make room for new 2012 stock, so the discounts could keep going right up to the new year.
