Final chance to join Consultation Group for 2012 Chadstone Expansion

In early December 2011, it was announced that Chadstone Shopping Centre would propose
a $500 million redevelopment. A newsletter was mailed out to Stonnington residential properties surrounding the Centre. The newsletter outlines the proposed development
plans and details on how to participate in community consultation meetings.
Some of the plans include removing the curfew on the Chadstone Rd entrance as well as
the possibility of additional office spaces and a hotel. As reported in The Age, a group of residents are banding together to
fight the new development. The residents are concerned the $500m expansion would "exacerbate the area's traffic congestion".
Residents have until 31 December 2011 to register their interest in joining the "Neighbourhood Focus Groups". To enquire, call Stonnington Council on (03) 8290 3340.
The council will select a number of interested residents to participate.
Meeting dates will be finalised by 15 January 2012.
